FHE idea
Just to warn you, my story has nothing to do with the pictures. On Saturday morning I was making pancakes. My griddle for some reason gets too hot and sometimes starts to send smoky fumes into the kitchen air. Naturally the fire alarm goes off, as it does everytime I use the griddle. Claire RUNS through the house yelling, "I know just what to do in this situation!!" I'm so proud of her as I turn on the overhead fan and open the kitchen window. She RUNS to the backdoor and opens it, but doesn't run out. Then RUNS to the front door and starts fanning the smoky air outside. Wait. Shouldn't we have taught her to leave the house when there is a threat of fire? Our sweet little Ian helps too usually by scooting a chair directly under the alarm so I can stand up on it to take the battery out. I'm glad my children feel so secure in our home, but maybe we need a FHE on safety around here.

Now I don't feel so bad that I set off the smoke alarm. Maybe you need a new griddle?
Clarie seems like such a grown up girl with a lot to say. She reminds me of Aprils little girl Kiley.
ours goes off when i spray air freshner or hair spray-and takes forever to stop---
We love having the FHE lesson on Fire Safety... Tony sets the stop watch and we time ourselves getting out and meeting at the mailbox... It's fun! Good to know that the kids are not scared of the fire/smoke alarm...
LOVE all the pictures, using the backyard slide as a future gold metal event is perfect!! So much fun!
